Liam Rosenior, the manager of Chelsea FC, has shared his thoughts on Mamadou Sarr's debut performance and the absence of Cole Palmer in the team. 'Mamadou was everything that I expected,' Rosenior said, 'I know Mamadou so well.'
Sarr's full debut was a clean sheet, and Rosenior was pleased with his performance. 'I think the acclimatisation, adaptation process for him hopefully will be faster because he understands the way I want to play, and he already showed that today,' he added. However, he was quick to point out that he doesn't want to single out any player, and praised the entire team for their strong performance.
'But I don't want to single players out. I just felt the whole team, from [Alejandro] Garnacho's energy and running Liam Delap, Estevao, midfield players, the back unit, Rob Sanchez. I just felt it was a really, really strong team performance and that's what makes me so happy this evening.'
Cole Palmer, who has been in excellent form with four goals in his last two appearances, was left out of the squad. Rosenior explained that it was a decision to manage his minutes, as he plans to give Enzo Fernandez 45 minutes with Moi Caicedo. 'Managing — managing him,' he said, 'Brilliant to see Reece [James] back on the pitch. Brilliant for him to get those 60 minutes.'
The team now has a full week to prepare for their upcoming match against Burnley, and Rosenior is delighted that everyone has come through unscathed. 'I'm delighted they've all come through unscathed and now, for the first time in a long time, they've got a full week to prepare for Burnley,' he concluded.
